General Music
General Music is an exploratory course taken by 7th grade students. Students will learn how music has developed over time periods throughout history, the fundamentals of music's construction through music theory, as well as basic skills for playing guitar. Course Outline

Students will learn about four time periods in music history: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical.

Students will listen to varying examples of music and practice recognizing identifiable characteristics of each time period.

Students will learn basic music theory, including note values, rhythms, scales, and time signatures.

Students will be introduced to beginner skills for playing the guitar, including basic chord structures and playing simple melodies.
